“The employee was ordered to stop coming to work and self-quarantine at home since March 17 after he was alerted that a neighbour living in the same condominium building was infected with Covid-19,” said the announcement. “On March 21, the employee had high fever. He went to see a doctor and was diagnosed with Covid-19.”
After being confirmed as infected, the employee was sent to a hospital for treatment. “He was working in the back office and did not have any direct contact with customers,” said the company.
As a precaution, True Corporation has ordered all employees who work on the 31st floor of True Tower 1 to stop coming to work and self-quarantine at home for 14 days from March 23 to April 5. The quarantine period will not be counted as sick or vacation leave. “We have also closed down the whole floor and disinfected the area with chemicals of the same grade that are used in hospitals according to international public health standards,” added the company.
The company has also reached out to people who have made contact with the employee in the past weeks and urged them to follow self-quarantine practice as suggested by the Ministry of Public Health.
“To reduce the risk of Covid-19 spreading, True Corporation has followed ‘work from home’ approach by using digital technology to enable employees to work and serve customers from anywhere,” the company said.
